You're reading Are you for or against the death penalty?
Comments
I agree, and the death should be televised. If people see what happens to them if they commit a crime that would give them the death penalty, they may think twice, or thrice!

Yeah, but how do you punish someone who has raped a child? Surely death is too good!

interesting point tjaherton.....keep up everyone, I love opinions on delicate matters like this...brings the flare out of everyone...
by guizmo40 on August 17th, 2006
but we can't make prisoners lives miserable its against the law so i say kill them and get it over with!
by thinkin on August 17th, 2006
Maybe the law should be changed then
by anonymous on August 17th, 2006
To change laws, people must participate in the democracy! We've gotta use what's sometimes a crappy system to change it - by voting - too many citizens don't & change doesn't come w/career politicians. Elections are soon . . . Vote 'em Out!
by MyKinKStar on August 19th, 2006
Obviously you didn't read the whole section of the bible. God is against revenge. read Proverbs 24:29. It says: "And don't say, "Now I can pay them back for all their meanness to me! I'll get even!"
by DarkFishy on August 21st, 2006
I would vote, but a)I'm not old enough and b)I'm not even American!

To quote a man far wiser than I, an eye for an eye leaves everybody blind. And the death penalty is no deterrent for anything. See USA's crime rate compared to any number of non-death penalty countries.
by go_to_hellas on August 23rd, 2006
USA's crime rate is higher than other countries' for a variety of reasons; that says nothing about effect of DP.
by TwoToothedTimmy on December 17th, 2006
Also, america is really bad at carrying out the death penalty. Most people around here find it to be a joke..People commit the worst crimes imaginable, and get let out, as soon as 6 years, I have seen..Countries with really strict laws, and a strict death penalty, should decrease the number of murders..Just because a country that uses the dp, like iraq, still has a high crime rate, doesn't mean anything. Iraq is a place filled with lots of extremists..They don't care about the law, because they feel it's their "god" given duty to kill people. They are like animals over there..And since those kind of countries are mostly run by muslim extremists, they let men get away with raping women, and other such crimes, a lot more than in a civilized country.

The Bible also says "Thou shalt not kill." PERIOD. There's no asterisk, exemptions, or exceptions. An "eye for an eye" does not mean killing someone, it could mean inflicting a similar injury, but reference to the loss of an eye should not be over-interpreted to mean its okay to kill someone when another passage clearly and unambiguously states "thou shalt not kill." The clearness of "thou shalt not clear" limits the application of an "eye for an eye" to non-lethal punishment.
by joro1968 on March 18th, 2007
You said inflict similar injury but the injury is death so isn't that what you aree doing
by thinkin on March 19th, 2007
vengeance is not ours it is the Lord's and He will punish accordingly if you are taking quotes from the Bible you should probably read more than the Old Testament
by illimitato_hustla on May 2nd, 2007
and if you do research you will see it costs more money to kill someone on death row then to imprison them for life
by illimitato_hustla on May 2nd, 2007
Jesus did a whole speech on how we're not to judge or condemn. To support the death penalty would mean ignoring the entire New Testament.
