It sounds like it can read Blu-ray but not write it.
Is the Dell Inspiron ME051 Intel(R) Pentium(R)M 1.7GHz a 64-bit processor? Will it run 64-bit programs?

You're reading Samsung: "double-layer DVD+-RW/CD-RW drive with Blu-ray Disc support" Any idea what 'Blu-ray disc support' means?

(In case it reports you got a DR, I clicked the minus instead of the plus, I'm on my first cup of coffee.)
Yeah, after digging around some more that's what I came up with. "Reads Blur-ray" would have been shorter and more direct.

If you like coffee I think you should try taking 5-10 mg of Dextroamphetamine every morning before hitting snooze when the alarm clock goes off. You are a programmer? You can write as much KLOC before it wears off as you normally did when you stayed at work until dinner. Take the rest of the day to have a beer and network with people who want to fund a real performer like you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dextroamphetamine

In my wayward youth we called them dexies. These days if I took something to speed me up, I'd probably break something, like a hip. I'm only allowed the caffeine in the winter months. The 'golden' years.

Good luck to you.
.
PS: dexies are Dexedrine which is also a stimulant but a little different than Dextroamphetamine
