purgatory is a made up doctrine of the catholic church and has been done away by this or last pope .Jesus is more forgiving than man but still most people will end up in hell. Hell is not a permanent place but still to be avoided after the 1,000 year reign of Christ on earth the souls in hell will be released , at the final judgement all will be judged on the deeds we done in the flesh.
