My Win XP computer has begun opening numerous Internet Explorer windows. My spyware and antivirus programs show no infections. What's going on?

    I would say the most likely situation here is that you do have some malicious software, either spyware or a virus or what have you, but your anti-virus/etc. programs are out of date and thus not catching them.

    So make sure those are updated as a first step. Alternatively, you can run something like Housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) which is a browser based anti-virus tool and will be up to date. I believe it also scans for mal/spyware, so you can kill a whole god damned flock of flying birds with lion heads or whatever.
