You're reading Have you ever liked a cover version of a song better than the original? which?
Comments
I do like Elton John's cover of Pinball Wizard, and possibly, it does have a slight edge over the original. Don't get me wrong, I love the Who myself, but Elton seemed to inject more fire and energy into his version. Maybe it's that great rocking piano.

I agree with you 100% I think Elton did equally well with his cover of The Beatles' Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

Yes, that's an excellent cover version as well. Strange as it may sound now, I actually heard Elton's version first. Even though I knew it was a Beatles song, I remember Elton's version in the charts (in 1974) whereas the Beatles original was an LP track and never a single. Also, because of the drug references in the lyrics, the original version might not have been played on the radio at the time.

Elton John - I agree.
Smokey Robinson - terrible song, wasn't much anyone could do with it.
Ike and Tina - SACRILEGE! NOBODY did that song better than Creedence.
