What's the difference between MB and GB when speaking about the specifications of a hard drive (or any other time, really)?

    To clear up the obvious here. Both answers here are correct, depending on how your HD is set up [which manufacturer]. Western Digital considers a gigabyte to be 1000 megabytes. Windows uses the 1,024 preference. So in short, a gigabyte can be considered either 1,000 megabytes or 1,024 megabytes.
