Is it bad to dance in pointe shoes without ribbons?

    having never actually been on pointe while wearing pointe shoes I would suggest that it is near to impossible do dance on pointes without ribbons because who do you keep the shoes on your feet? The drawstrings at the top only tighten the front of the shoe so then there is nothing to keep the heels of the shoes on properly. if you don't want to take a trip to hospital i suggest you don't do it without ribbons!


    by the way, I CAN stand on pointe in a decent pair of trainers or square toed leather shoes as long as I am holding on to something but I never actually did pointe work at dancing because my teacher quit teaching before i got the chance, i was about 2.5 years away from pointes and that was 9 years ago
