Help answer this question below.

Was it just for God to let Satan torment Job (have his animals stolen, kill his servants and children, give him boils, etc.) just to answer his challenge that the poor guy would curse God if his life sucked? Why would God need to prove anything to Satan?

The story of Job is dramatic story about the problem of the suffering of the innocent. It is a parable, a story that teaches a spiritual lesson and is not literal history. Satan did not kill anyone.

    • I have never known a Christian that believed in the Bible to say that any of the Bible was just a dramatic story and not part of literal history......
so, do you think all the stories are made up , parables, to teach a spiritual lesson? i am just curious..just never heard this one...
I am a Christian and in no way believe any part of the Bible is made up .....but thats me....

    • Jesus used parables to teach spiritual lessons all of the time. Most Christians do not take the two stories of Creation literally but as inspired stories of God's true love for us. The Bible is a collection of many writings by many authors (all inspired) over a period of hundreds of years. There are stories, histories, biographies and letters and political commentary. There are songs, poems, wise sayings, laws, and commandments. There are lessons about life and love and God.

    • I can see the Bible is all "made up". This story is offensive and teaches me that the Bible is ancient drivel.
