I can't speak for everyone; but I do it because I have a vested interest in there being as few ignorant, irrational people on the planet as possible.

You're reading Why can't people who disagree with the bible just ignore it but they have to keep on trying to score points over believers?

Ok, while I know that there seems to be a high percentage of Christians that fall into the ignorant/irrational category, I must say that if you really pay close attention you'll notice that they're just as ignorant and irrational as the rest of humanity. Religion is only one way that these traits manifests itself.

Well...if it makes you feel any better, I go after purveyors of homeopathic medicine and tarot card readers with equal vigor...

Wasn't it Karl Marx who said that "RELIGION was the opium of the people?"

But if they are ignorant as you put it by choice what right does anybody have to attack a question concerning a book that in their ignorance they choose to believe? What is the answer to the ignorant people. Marx's followers locked them up and banned religion, is that the free world that we ought to enter? What has happened to freedom of choice. I know my fraternity is not at all innocent and am not condoning what has been done but crusades against the ignorant is a worrying thing!

I concur with this as well.

There is however a difference in confronting and exposing ignorance and having a crusade against people in order to deny them free expression.

Is disagreement with a personal lifestyle choice ignorance that needs dealing with? I disagree entirely with some lifestyle choices but is it my responsibilty to label those people as ignorany because they believe differently? What actually is ignorance, faith in something is not a matter of ignorance it is belief whatever the tenet is. Unless of course it is detrimental to mankind. Believing that the bible is God's word does not it seems to me fit into that category. Some actions that are taken from a minority of apparent believers do and as such they should be dealt with by the fullforce of the law.
