Why is it traditional for the female members of the departed to receive a flower from the grave site after the burial?

    Another version is presenting each family member with a rose or other blossom from the floral spray on the casket. Some drop this into the grave, others take it home as a momento, perhaps to be pressed and kept in the family Bible or elsewhere as a keepsake.
