How many hugs do you receive each day, and how do you think it affects you?

    None, now that I think about it. It's not particularly bothersome, but no hugs could be a real downer if I focused on it. I received a totally sweet email hug not too long ago and cried like a baby, so it's hard to say.

    It seems like emotional malnourishment. The cumulative effects won't kill you, but they can downgrade your overall emotional health and well-being. Physical contact with people is healing, and life-affirming. I have a cat. He hugs me sometimes, mostly when he's trying to eat my dinner.

    No hugs probably affects different people in different ways. Someone who thrives on hugs will feel the loss more than someone who'd always been a less-frequent hugger.

    • Although kitty hugs are nice, sometimes you really need a human to just give you a big bear hug. You know, the kind where you think you can hear your ribs creaking :) I hope you find someone to hug you, even if it's just someone holding a sign.

    • Thanks, Darkling. Very sweet. Look at my avatar. Maybe people are afraid to hug a woman in a skirt who enjoys blasting off a few rounds on a sunny afternoon. At least I don't shoot my friends when we go hunting.
