Question

Help answer this question below.

Why do some people think that using "Oh my God" as an exclamation, is taking God's "name" in vain? God is not his "name". It is merely a title, which can be used for more than just "Yahweh".

They are looking for something to be offended about I guess. It's not really offensive. Your right, It is merely a title. If I said "Oh my king!", you would get similar response in that culture.

"son of a god" is not offensive whereas "son of a [female dog]" is. If they choose it to be offensive, it will be offensive to that individual.
