Their won't be enough time for another animal to take over probably unless humans evolve into something else in a million years. It took 4.5 billion years for very intelligent life to evolve.
Life is probably going to expire totally at the 5 billion year mark (and the planet itself at the 10 billion mark) nothing could change that whether we ever existed or not. Thats why we just freaking made it when it comes to evolutionary time scales.
