I always heard it without the horse's ethnic origin. Because race horses get alot of water, and when they go, they really go!

We don't add the ethnic part where I'm from. It just means you have to pee real bad. Racehorses get a lrge build up of lactic acid from racing and afterwards the need to get rid of it. So they pee a lot when they're done.

If I have to go real bad I ususally say, "I'm busting to go". However, since we are discussing ethnic micturition, a common saying used to be - when discussing the frequency of 'going' - that one had a chinese bladder.

I thought it was "I have to pee like a RUSHING race horse." That's what I always say. And I say it because I really have to go!

As the others have said, I've always heard it "pee like a race horse." But we probably say that for the same reason we say, "that went through me like a Japanese bullet train." Quickly, and with much force. lol lol

The reason why Russian was added because of their preference for Vodka and it's tendency to narrow the uretha and put pressure on the bladder. I've actually knocked over a man (accidently) while trying to control my urine output.

maybe the alliteration is what attracted people to use the phrase whether it be rushing or russian. The alliteration ads emphasis.

On the way home from school back in 1973 I told my friends I need to get home soon for I have to pee like a russian race horse It was years latter I heard that saying again The saying started in Vaughn Montana in 1973

At some point in history, Russian racehorses were given steroids. These affected their bladders causing them to pee while running in a horserace...hence the term, "I have to pee like a Russian racehorse!"
