  • I was stopped in Germany coming out of Amsterdam, I was part of a group and we were all rigorously searched. The same happened when we landed in O'Hare, go figure?! LOL Good thing, none of us are that stupid.
  • Yes, once at Heathrow. I'm pretty sure it was just a random search, no real reason. They tossed my carry-on bags and frisked me pretty thoroughly.
  • Stopped yes. In approximately 30 international arrivals the past 2-3 years, it has only happpened 1 time. Harrassed, no. Customs has a very important job in keeping out dangerous items and I appreciate their efforts.
  • Yeah, bloody Heathrow... they scanned by bag and found shit loads of narcotics, then after I showed my prescription they made me check my cane, then patted me down and made me use a wheel chair... it was so degrading
  • Yes, I've been stopped a number of times. They always seem to choose me. Once, they stopped me for a random search. There was nothing on me. Another time, the security saw something in our bag. It was some sun tan lotion. They took it & said that we can't bring it because it is over 3 liters. That was when they got the new rule. The security seems to be getting very strict. But, It's good to keep us safe :)
  • Never harassed or stopped by customs. I was pulled for a random search on a domestic flight, though. Just routine in the post 9/11 world.
  • One time on my way back from Europe one of the customs agents asked me "You've been in Europe for 5 weeks, you really have nothing to declare?" I said "No, I'm a college student and it took me all my money just to get there. I couldn't afford to buy anything." He said "Good point." and let me go.
  • *crosses fingers* not yet.
  • Yes. Coming back to Canada from the States. I declared everything but they decided to check me out anyway. They went through everything in my camper and found a 6 pack of beer in the cooler. I had forgotten about it. It was such an obviously honest mistake but I went through a bunch of crap. They put me on their computer for 2 years and warned me if I did anything wrong again I would be in real trouble. He was an A--hole! Coming into the States from India as well. Can't really blame them there though. Drugs and all.
  • Police beat up a girl at Reagan National Airport, throwing her across the room into a person and a metal chair. Then they picked her up and threw her against a table. After that, they bashed her head into that metal table, giving her a concussion. Then they twisted her arm so hard that it was about to break.
  • I've never been harassed. I was stopped once as I was flying back into the U.S. from Canada. I'd been hiking on Vancouver Island, and it was a routine search of my luggage. The customs official sure earned his pay -- after several days of hiking, my clothing smelled horrible and I had no clean underwear! :-)
  • Yeah, about everytime I travel. At Charles de Gaulle, and Pearson International as well especially. Real idiots the customs people, with nothing better to do with their time.
  • All the time. Every time we return from a trip aboard, our luggage is the last to come out on the gurney and it has obviously been searched. We are also ALWAYS the last in the customs line and we are ALWAYS questioned! I attribute it to my husband being born and raised in Iran
