I could write you a list of about 50, but I think the one I'd recommend to most people is The Shawshank Redemption. Just because of the triumph of the human spirit it portrays. you should probably watch Plan 9 From Outer Space too (anyone who's seen it won't need an explanation!)

The Meaning of Life
-
well...I could have an answer that would be 5 pages long but one that somewhat stands out in my mind is.....Forest Gump....probably the best combination of Acting and Cinematography Edit: how can I get a spam rating for this

Greatest Films - Inherit The Wind (1960) I saw this film during my formative college years. It ridicules Christianity in a way that is most satisfying for someone who is on their way to renouncing their faith. Great courtroom drama to boot. Its story centers around the issue of evolution vs. creationism, in the prosecution of 24 year-old Dayton High School mathematics teacher and sports coach - and substitute science teacher - John T. Scopes for violating state law (the 1925 Butler Act) by teaching the Darwin's theory of evolution in a state-funded school. The film's title was taken from the Biblical book of Proverbs 11:29: "He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind."
-
Either Full Metal Jacket. (Greatest war movie ever!!) Or V For Venndetta. EDIT: If I was actually going to die, I would want to watch Ghost World, I love that movie.
-
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, I know it's a kids movie, but it's great.
-
"Jesus".
-
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
-
"What about Bob" or "Planes, Trains and Automobiles." I love to laugh!
-
Snakes on a plane. But only if you are in the process of dying, because it will certainly put you out of your misery, for good... Trust me... But seriously, watch Saving Private Ryan, or Big Fish. Big Fish is the bestt!
-
Starwars or Forrest Gump
-
V for Vendetta, The Cell and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (if it is as good as the book)
-
A Walk to Remember. Very touching and an awesome movie!
-
i think hitch!! because its hilarious with some seriousness to it. and not to mention a love story! it has everything in it.
-
"Monty Python and the Holy Grail." Laughter is the sunshine of life, and Holy Grail is the funniest movie ever made...
-
Spaceballs. If for some reason, you need to die, you mustn't die without seeing "how many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?!"
-
"Dances With Wolves" A true Western. "Shadowlands" A mature romance. "Mr. Holland's Opus"
-
Perhaps "The Wicker Man". At least you will know to avoid some of our less hospitable island here in Scotland, and it might even save you from dying. "A Clockwork Orange" is another film that holds an interesting mirror up to today's society, though it is a little weird at times (our society, not the film). I've changed my mind. I want to watch 'Ubiquitous Reality'. It isn't actually a film, yet. In fact the book hasn't even been written, but when it is, and when the film is made, it is going to be amazing! People will talk about it for generations, and it will get the write up "If there's one film you must see before you die, this is it".
-
Powder. Either guy or girl can watch it, and it has a good moral to it. Made me cry. Either that or My Girl. If we're speaking ChickFlicks then I say...How to Deal... or 10 things I hate about you... no wait. Romeo and Juliet.
-
Wait I got another one. "what the bleep do we know?" GREAT film.
-
No one should ever pass through this life without seeing "The Jerk", starring Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters.
-
The Burning of the Red Lotus Temple. I choose that movie based on the theory that after I watch the movie, I'm going to die. And since that movie is 1,620 minutes in length, it would give me the greatest amount of time before I die.
-
The wizard of oz that's a great movie!
-
I would have to say the Green Mile - this is such a powerful movie - looking into the lives of prisoners on death row. It has such a sad ending and makes you aware that a person can be sentenced to death when he is innoecent of any crime. Made me cry!!!
-
There are alot of great movies out there to see before you die. It kind of depends what kind of movies you like, but I'd have to say Remember the Titans and Cool Runnings. I love these movies, but some may not agree because these are sports movies, which I love. Not everyone does. Try asking people who have the same interest as you.

Gone With the Wind and if there is any more time, Casablanca.
-
I think the best movie to see before you die is "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation" NOW that is one funny movie. Let's not forget Cousin Eddie LOL
-
Big Fish. All about an old guy who tells so many tall tales his son doesn't know who he is and visits on his deathbed to try to sort truth from fiction. One of my top five movies of all times. As my husband is a fiction writer, I am in much the same position. Sometimes I get confused what he has written in a story and how it really happened. I sometimes think he no longer even knows, himself!
-
"The Last Samurai" Or "Memoirs of a Geisha" They are so awesome!
-
Dr Chivago. And I would turn the Air conditioner on high while watching it. It is not a movie but an experience.

Scent of a Woman. It's a movie for everyone, not just a girly or guys' movie. I know guys who love this movie and watch it over and over and over again, and I know women who do the same. Even my mom likes it. Al Pacino is SUCH a good actor. Absolutely awesome movie. Whenever I've recommended to someone that they watch it, they have always thanked me.

So many wonderful films a very difficult task to settle on one, but I think I will go for a real Oldie which is a genre I normally dislike but 'GoodBye Mr Chips' I doubt if anyone that has not lived in England has heard of it but it is a lovely heartwarming film
-
The Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me or Friday Night Lights. The reason why I say these movies is because they show you the real meaning of life and how in every situation no matter how bad it seems there is always a better tomorrow.
-
"The Best of Youth" (2003), Italian: "La Meglio gioventù". A beautiful interpretation of life and what real people go through.

I think "It's a Wonderful Life". It tells the story of a man who impacted so many lives, yet he didn't even realize how much. It's a great story...to know that you are important; you do make a difference; you do mean something to someone.
