  • It just a board game. You are moving the Quija "eye" to make it say what you want whether consciencely or unconsciencely.
  • I've heard half a dozen stories of bad experiences people have had with them.
  • Ouija boards ARE NOT TOYS. Never mess with one of those things unless you know what you're doing . You know how you're parents will tell to be carefull on the internet, it's like that, exept on the internet, you'll probably never run into the vengfull ghost of a serial killer.
  • I have heard a lot of bad things also.
  • Personally I dont like Ouija Boards. There are documented cases where spirits were conjured up and they were all evil. When we open our minds, ask a question to "someone" we are apt to get anyone. Ouija is simply a tool, but a bad one and seems to only bring out dark spirits.
  • If you are afraid of them, it would definately be bad to use one. You would pull in negative spirits. I don't feel comfortable with them myself. I know four people who have had experiences with them and three of the experiences were negative. One of the persons couldn't get it to work, so nothing happened.
  • My wife and I bought one and we PALYED with it for about 30 minutes and put it away.We didnt see hear feel smell or notice anything of any type at all. I wish we had our 20dollars back now because all it does is sit there collecting dust.Who knows if we leave it sit long enough??????????
  • I played on one last night with people who are experts with these things. I can say here and now they are not just toys.
  • Many times, one of the players is just messing around, pushing it to spell out things they want - trust me, 8 eight year old girls at a sleepover! But, as a teenager I had what I swear to this day was a very real and scary encounter - I will never use one again!
  • I've played with it many times with believers and non-believers and saw nothing, nothing, nothing. My mind is open. I believe in things the eye cannot see.
  • Both I think. I've never yet seen or heard of a Ouija board where I wasn't convinced one of the group was moving the glass, either conciously or subconciously. If vengeful spirits wanted to enter the physical plane I'm pretty sure they would find a slightly less obscure way of doing it. However, just because its not real doesn't mean it "just" a toy. People who are already vulnerable can end up psychologically traumatised by an experience with an "evil spirit" real or imagined. I've known many adults who had bad experiences with Ouija boards as kids and still refuse to talk about it. It doesn't have to be real to hurt you. I would say that they're really not worth messing with.
  • They are just toys. People love to make up stories about things happening while playing with them just to scare others. I do believe in the unseen and all that but for all the times we played with one as kids usually at least one kid would finally fess up that they were messing with it to play a prank on everyone else.
  • even though nothing really bad has happend to me i think there is definitly something more to them and you should not mess with them. ive heard some stories about people who have had very bad experiences with these boards. they claim it can open a portal to the devil or something. so yeah... i just wouldnt mess with it.
  • it's not even much of a toy, the joke gets old quick. it's just a combination of all the players pushing slightly on the piece with the finger that moves it, and 1 guy's always directing it to what they think would be most logical for it to land on. it's crap, nothing to it
  • I think its something more man! I'm not about to mess with stuff that can curse you forever! I mean if the ghost is friendly and appeared in a non voilent way thats cool with me, I would maybe be ok but if i use one and happen to see a ghost as friendly as casper appear right behind me and say something and turn around I am going to have a heart attack, stroke, faint, pee or shit my pants. Don't mess with those things, they're serious stuff. I depend on my buddha statue to protect me, and my jade.
  • There IS something more to it. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
  • i think that there are creepy things that happen no matter wut u do if ur lookin 4 them. but i can say taht my best friends family found out alot of stuff that they didnt know about there grandparents, that fit but no one ever put them 2 gether. like the fact that one of them had cheated on the other with some body close 2 the fam.
  • Be careful with these things. I believe that these are invitations to the "other side" for spirits to enter earth. The movie the Exorcist, is based on a true story based out of St. Louis, Missouri and the child, a boy, was using a Ouija board to try to contact his recently deceased aunt, then his family heard the scratching in the walls, and well, you know the rest. Be careful please
  • There has to be something to it, but I think there are also a lot of people out there who play with the Ouija board by moving it themselves without admitting it to the group. I myself have done this once or twice just to freak out my cousins, who get scraed easily. But I do believe in the power of the Ouija board and I don't take it lightly.
  • Serious advice - don't mess with it.
  • When I was a kid i played with it all the time..it's just a game. The hairs on the back of my neck are standing up..never mind..first sentence was way off.
  • It's real. When you use one you are opening your being up to other entities entering it to move the piece. ESPECIALLY do not use it ALONE. If you really want to experiment, make sure you do it with a friend, not by your self.

  • no it isn't. ouija boards are tools for contacting spirits. unless being haunted is fun.......
  • It's a tool of the devil.
  • iv never used one because my mum told me that my nana has one and had a really bad experience with it. iv also heard about one of my friends older brothers using one when something really bad happened. my friend saw it herself but cant explain what happened. i wont ever use one. can you believe they used to sell them in argos?
  • Generally, no, they do not work. Not everyone is able to actually communicate with spirits - it takes years and years of study and training. Trying to channel or communicate with spirits using a medium you have no concept of is very dangerous. If used correctly by someone who has studied spiritual communication, they can be effective, but there are many more ways in which to communicate with spirits that are more effective - for those who have the ability.
  • no, they work on the idea that you want an answer and you can justify the response. the one time I used it I asked it which girl at school like me it said W then S.. whatever.. I think my friends were moving it cause there was a girl at school I liked with the initials W.S.. if it was real wouldnt it have picked my wives intitials?
  • No, I can't imagine spirits using a game board to get your attention.
  • eww those are scary!! When I was younger I messed around with one a couple of times-but one day my sunday school teacher asked me if I was playing with one I said yes then told me that God wanted him to tell me to not play with it---so I never did again Many years later-my friend made one-she and my other friend were messing around and trying to find out about where some friends of ours were staying and they got some info-we called the hotel and sure nuff its where the board said they were.
  • yeah they definitly do work, im not going into any stories but from what i have heard and what someone close to me as experienced then i wouldnt even thiink about using a quija board
  • nah, i don't think they work. it seems to work, but if you have someone watching a pair of people do it blindfolded, they won't be able to make any sense of it.
  • No, Its just a kids game..Ment to be fun and scary...It did its job..And still hangs around today...
  • When you invite demons in, they come running! It doesnt matter what tool you decide to use. I would advise anyone to stay away from things like that.
  • One theory is the “ideomotor response” or automatism. You may not know that you are moving the message indicator, but you are. Most proponents of the Automatism Theory generally accept that it is very possible to move the planchette unconsciously. They claim that the Ouija board opens a kind of shortcut from the conscious to the subconscious mind. Collective automatism occurs when more than one person is operating the board. In high school and college, I experimented with a ouija board to great extent (I was in a paranormal investigation phase). I can tell you absolutley that two honest people sitting at the board can get coherent activity and not be consciously spelling out words. Now that I'm older, I'd lean more toward the automatism theory and unconscious muscle movement. As for the demons and devils bent, I never really understod that. When religious people hear voices or see signs, they talk about angels. When you mention the ouija boad, suddenly it's demons.
  • I'm a scientist, which means I am trained not to believe in anything I haven't (a). seen with my own eyes or (b). read verifiable accounts of from a reputable source. However, any good scientist will also tell you that the absence of evidence for something does not of itself constitute proof that it doesn't exist. My rational mind would tell me that Ouija is just a game. However, Einstein's theory of relativity is equally farfetched unless you can follow the mathematics. If you have any doubts about the safety of Ouija, then don't play it. At least, you should have convinced yourself the risk is worth it before starting to play.
  • My sister used one in a cemetery once. She told me it is very real. My High Priestess has also told us that they are very real and should NEVER be used as they do not allow one to control what comes through there. I have always been very scared of them and won't even approach one let alone touch it.
  • i've always heard that it's got devils magic in it. i personally don't care about it having devil's magic according to christianity judaism islam mormonism voodoo whatever - somebody said it's got the devil. that's enough for me to not mess with it.
  • I used a ouija board once, and never again after that. It (or a spirit) singled out a friend of mine (Joey). When we asked the board who it knew at the table it spelled 'Joe' (my friend). He asked 'how do you know me?' and it answered 'trees'. He couldn't make sense of that, but when we went back to Joey's house and told his father Joe Sr., Joe Sr. explained that he knew a man that sold Christmas trees years ago. Freaked me out.
  • If you know the Ouija board is ONLY a board game BABYCAKES than Use it alone ( during a new moon ) with the lights out with 1 candle at 1:00am. I want you to say this for 22 minutes ( is anybody out there ) after saying that for 22 minutes say this once ( is there any spirits out there right now ) after that say this twice ( if there's any spirits out there come into my body ). You have NOTHING to WORRY about BABYCAKES if you know the Ouija board is ONLY a board game. Let me tell you something BABYCAKES you DON'T know ANY about the Ouija board. I know MORE about the Ouija board than you will EVER know!!!!!!
  • The Ouija board by parker brothers is a DANGEROUS game!!!!!!
  • There is definitely more to it, for it is playing into the hands of demons and of Satan himself. Ouija is the combination of the french word for "yes" and the swedish word for "yes". Do you really want to be saying "yes" to demons or Baelzebub?
  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideomotor_effect This will give you more info on that.
  • I didn't do any research on it because I didn't believe in the Ouija board at the time. I thought it was only a game. I purchased the Ouija board ( parker brothers ) at toys r us in Sep of 2005. I used it at 10:00pm. I didn't even use a candle either I just dim my lights. I had the Ouija board on my knees and then I placed my finger on the planchette ( pointer ) and starting saying ( is anybody out there ). I keep saying it for about 15 to 20 minutes of then all of a sudden I felt a STRONG presence in my room!!!!!! The STRONG presence I felt was on the CEILING!!!!! I was so scared that I ran out of my room and threw the Ouija board in the garbage. The unknown presence is still here and it's nonhuman!!!!!! Something UNBELIEVABLE happened after that!!!!!! There's more to this than you could possibly imagine. I DON'T CARE IF NOBODY BELIEVES ME I KNOW WHAT I EXPERIENCE AND I'M NOT CRAZY!!!!!! You might think it's only a board game until something happens. Take this as a WARNING DO NOT use the Ouija board especially the one by parker brothers.
  • i believe in demonic/santanic phenomenon yeah i know not all ghosts are "bad" but most are......heaven and hell its a basic balance of life we cant take one out so it sums up your question simplistically
  • I do believe on it just like i believe in the power of the bible for an exorcism, Ouija board its just another instrument I'm not sure if it just for the evil side though.. but if you try it tell us your experience. i haven't had the opportunity to do so but still i don't know if i really want to.
  • i dont really know how they work but about 2 years ago i was completely addiced to playing it. a friend and i used to play it after school EVERY day. we didnt find it scary but after a while things got nasty i would have really vivid nightmares every night, and i record and interpret my dreams and i couldnt find any reason or association for these nightmares. id end up going to school exhausted everyday and teachers didnt believe us and we couldnt tell our parents. and we would keep playing it. as i said i havnt played it in like 2 years but what i do now which is alot safer is i just go to a spiritualist church and get messages from a medium. i wouldnt recommend playing it unless you are confident that you are very well protected spiritually because when you invite the ghosties they'll come and they aren't always nice. you can protect yourself by visualising a brilliant bright white light surrounding you and asking your guides and helpers for additional protection. obviously only play with people you trust that wont push the glass or whatever you'll use. but yeah really be careful and if things begin to just not feel right then stop playing. also remeber the board lies and if you are doing it to try and contact a loved one that has passed it may not be who you think it is. i wish you well. Liz
  • Ouija boards are indeed merely toys... But toys that are specifically and intentionally designed to utilize the most powerful spiritual energy in existance... The human psyche. There is more magic and mystery in the mental and spiritual energies behind the force that is human than any talisman, artifact, card or board game ever created. and the people that manufacture them... know this.
  • AAAAA++++ excellant answer for lady fucia. I have known people who have had very bad experiences with the Ouija Board. My mother for instance. The board is nothing more than paper and plastic, physically. But when used, you open up the oppertunity for evil to enter you. My mother kept asing (back in 1969) what do you want? Eventually "your soul" was spelled out. Wether the operator of the game is influenced by evil or just there imagination, I do not feel it is worth toying with.
  • The Ouija board is NOT a game!!!!!! WARNING: The Ouija board by parker brothers is VERY DANGEROUS!!!!!! WARNING: DO NOT USE IT AT ALL!!!!!! I used it in Sep of 2005 at 10:00pm and something UNBELIEVABLE happened!!!!!!
  • No they are not toys. i played quija today with my friend today i play alot and it said some pretty weird things that were true some it just said i dont know mostly when i asked about future stuff and i know i wasnt moving it and i know the person i was playing with wasnt either because the way it felt it felt more like it was smothly going along then it kept going in really fast circle and we started laughing because we were like omg r u doing tht i deff wasnt and neither was she i could tellll but it was pretty strange i thought of a letter in my head and asked what letter it was (g) and it did go to G. pretty freaky personally i do beilieve it but i would be carful because you could actually talk to evil dont do that whatever you do and NEVER play alone that is the worst thing you could possibly do i play with 2 people but the more the better i played on halloween and it was the freakyest thing we played with a couple people like 4 and it told me to walk bymyself into the bathroom so i did and i ran back because i felt a pain in my back tht felt like somone hit me in my back i asked my friends to look and it had a red handprint. i still play things like tht dont scare me but be carful were u play i played in my room once and a couple days later i felt watched and i was sitting on my bed and here somthing walking around in my room for a wweek i woke up at 3am and herd somthing walking ps. 3am is dead time most super natural happens then so if u realy want it to work play then. i did once but im not sure if the thing was evil cuz i herd a growl and me and my friends were freaked but if you really wanna excperiense this type of stuff then play but if you think your not ready stay away it could lead to possesion and opening a door to the unknown. another thing you coiulld take pictures while playing i took a picture of a ghost standing in my friends window and wasnt even looking for anything.i started playing when i was 11 im 19 now and still play but it could be addicting so be carful.
  • The Ouija board is nothing more than a toy made for amusement and there is no magical or supernatural powers being conducted by spirits and demons. Remember, they're sold in toy stores and if they were dangerous, toy stores wouldn't sell them.
  • they are very real. i played one became haunted by a spirit that called itself ed. later told me it meant evil demon. i later became possessed by the spirit, it almost killed me. it was forced to leave only by the word of god. nothing else could get it to leave. it still tries to communicate with me but i refuse to chat with my enemy.
  • Have evil spirits in ouija boards.
  • Ever hear of the idiomotor effect? Here's an experiment that I have repeated several times: Get a group of people to play with the board and ask it questions. Watch the planchette. It will probably spell out something. Then, blindfold the members of your group and tell them to play. The planchette will probably spell out gibberish, if anything at all.
  • There is a LOT more to a OUIJA Board than MOST people realize ... There can be intense evil released thru a Ouija Portal IF given the opportunity .... I've been called in a few times to "clean up" after a novice used a Ouija .... UNLESS you are experienced in the Paranormal / Metaphysical / Occult ... Keep away from a Ouija ... +5
  • The Ouija board is a psychotronic device. Yes, it's just cardboard and plastic, but it helps prepare and focus the mind to allow an actual portal to be created in local hyperspace. And ANYTHING can come through that portal. Worse, once they are here, there is no guarantee that they will leave again unless you know a lot more than the game instructions tell. It is safer not to play with them unless you know exactly what you are doing.
