I remember JFK coming on the TV. We Only had four Stations; two Canadian and two American, but Kennedy was on all four stations. He explained that the Soviets had ballistic Missiles in Cuba and he wanted them gone. My mother was still a US citizen and had voted for Kennedy. My Dad was a Canadian Software Programmer for IBM. I remember them both being quite somber. Later in life I would read Apocalyptic SF and when those whose world was about to end got deathly quiet in the book, I would remember back to that day in October when as a 4 year old I had had true thoughts of never being allowed to reach five. Of course I did. On a lighter note... the first actual show I remember was "Supercar" a marionette SF show that was shown on Saturday mornings. I was taken aback by the funny accents (British actors trying too hard to sound American) and loved the show. Hope this helps.
