  • It was the 70s. People even painted ON "beauty" spots.
  • Perhaps for the same reason Barbra Stresand didn't have her nose "fixed". It is part of what defines them, and maybe they should be commended for not caving into society's vision of what is attractive.
  • I guess it's a "beauty mark" but I'm with you....as John Candy said in Uncle Buck said "Here's a quarter, go have a rat knaw that thing off." My sister-in-law has a big hairy one on her face and it grosses me out. I know that's VERY superficial, but I can't help it. I think it's because she thinks she's so hot (such as prancing around in a bikini in front of others at a New Years Eve pool party with kids in attendance).
  • hehe yes talk about gross - i used to find myself just keep honing in on it - much to my displeasure
  • I have wondered the same thing for years. When you look at him on anything it is all you see.
  • John-Boy Walton minus his mole wouls be like the Mona Lisa without her smile. It's his most distinguishing feature surely? Whether we like it or not (and I for one think it a hideous disfigurement), that's how they wanted 'John-Boy' to look or else surely they'd have insisted on him undergoing skin surgery!
  • In 'The Waltons', John-Boy seems to fancy himself as a bit of a Romeo with the girls. Is it plausible that even in Waltonland the local lasses would look twice at a young guy with such a horrendous mole on his cheek? I think not. Good night Mole-Boy!
  • Leave him alone. He looks great as he is!
  • Why should he? It's his trademark! Goodnight John-Boy, hello Paul Baumer. (All Quiet on the Western Front') (A great film. Richard Thomas is superb!)
  • He has always been proud of it and many women think it made him sexy. I didn't. It looked terrible to me.
