Yes I would.
-
I would because even thought I may not respect the person, I do respect his office.
-
Yes, of course. Same would go if John Kerry happened to be President at the time.
-
Yes, even people who disagree should respect the office.
-
He's still a person for God's sake. Anyone who wouldn't is a pig.
-
I'm not heartless...I wouldn't wish death on anyone. Even if I don't like or respect them someone, I wouldn't be pleased if they died.
-
Um, yeah of course. We seem to forget that he's also the husband, father, brother and friend of some people.
-
I would because it would mean cheney would be president. *shudder*
-
i'd have a moment of silence for some of the political leaders whose methods i spit on. but respect for a human being? of course. or else i'm a hypocrite.
-
I would for any person...
-
Never speak ill of the dead it's bad Karma. Any way yes I would I respect the OFFICE of the presidency regardless who is in and what party they are affiliated with. Common decency/respect should dictate the behavior if a event was to ever occur, and this actually applies to anyone.
-
Of course I would.
-
Of course. I am very unhappy with Bush for not controlling our borders, and for hurting the Republican Party by not sticking to it's principles of smaller government, less spending, and national security. He's a better President than Carter or Clinton and I would have been sad to see either of them die while in office. I do not wish to see anyone die or be killed by other than natural causes, especially the leader of the free world, no matter who that might be.
-
I don't have any respect for that man, though I would probably take part if only to mourn the fact that Cheney would then be president :(
-
Aaaahhhh, these questions. Hypothetical questions. Since it's hypothetical, I'll give you a hypothetical answer, I probably wouldn't find out about the moment of silence until it was over.
-
Yes I would, as I would in respect to any human being.
-
I would be sad, anytime we lose a president, its not good, no matter what decisions hes made...
-
I'm certain I would.
-
Yes, of course I would.
-
Although thick he would not deserve to die and not be remembered
-
I would be mortified if this happened and I would of course respect the minutes silence as the least I could do even though I am UK :o)
-
depends, Did Cheney die with him?
-
I'm not proud of it, but I would probably chuckle gleefully throughout it.
-
I don't disagree with the majority of his policies and yes I would honor a moment of silence in his honor
-
Course. If nothing else, I'd pay respect to the loss of a life, even if I didn't like the person, or agree with their actions.
-
I must say, I’m a bit disturbed when I read some if the answers to this question. If you don’t respect the man, respect the office the precious gift that is human life. Respect the fact that he has family and friends that love him. To the ones that would wish one dead, I have one question for you. Have you had anyone dear to you taken from you and what would you say to those who would make light of your loss.
-
You should be very careful asking, or answering this type of question. The secret service may knok on your door. You think I'm kidding?
-
Of course. He maynot be a good president but I do believe that he is a nice person. I didnt vote for him and hate his politics but I not evil.
-
Of course. Just because I disagree with someone doesn't mean I wish them dead.
-
YA...RIGHT.
-
Of course I would.
-
Not only is he the president, he is a human being and I cannot but give sympathy for any untimely death. Also, if he were assassinated, I would regard it as an attack on democracy and hence, indirectly, on me. I cannot condone the assassination of any democratically elected leader, even if think he is one of the worst ever. The principles of democratic choice are greater than any one person's regime.
-
People may disagree with him all they want. He may have very low approval ratings. There is nothing to say the majority is correct in their assessment of him. I would more than take part in a moment of silence for him. I would have a service at church said in his name.
-
Yes I would. No matter who it is. Loss of life should be respected, even if the person wasn't.
-
No, I have no loyalty to the man, regardless of what position he has lied his way into. Either he is beneath the office of our presidency or we've sunk Very low in our standards for president.
-
Hell no!
-
Yes, of course. He IS the President, no matter how you feel about his politics. You should respect the office if nothing else.
-
Yes I would but not because he is president but because he is a human being, and would deserve at least as much.
-
I would try, but most likely end up laughing my ass off and saying he deserved it for fuc*ing up America so badly.
-
Absolutely.
-
Yes. Whether or not you like the man, he is our president, and therefore deserves the respect due his office. I think it is sad that so many Americans belittle our own president, it is disgraceful and demoralizing to our country.
-
I agree that the office deserves respect and I don't want him dead (perhaps impeached). As far as critizing our president, I thought our constitution allowed that. Besides, the presidents of france and england, for example, get harsher treatment than our presidents ever have.
-
It don't matter, has he given a moment of silence for all the people he has murdered in Iraq, or all the people that died in 9/11? He don't care for us, he's selfish
-
Yes. He is the President.
-
I certainly would. His job is hard, one may think that he is awful, he doesn't know how to handle situations, he's "stupid" for various reasons, etc., but how would YOU do if you were president? President Bush was chosen both by the people and ordained by God. He is placed there for a reason and we, as a whole, must be thankful for what he does as the president of our country.
-
you bet I would
-
Yes I would. Respect for the dead applies to everyone. friend or foe, in war and peace.
-
Yes ... ... as a Canadian, I have respect for the position of leader of our neighbouring nation and ally ... but as soon as the brief moment of respectful honouring had past, I would begin to have mixed feelings ... part thankful joy that he no longer occupies that position, and part nervous wonder over whether his replacement will be better or worse from a Canadian point of view ...
-
a moment of silence, then pop open a bottle of tequila, and then my friends and I will party the night away.
-
I don't like him or his politics but yes. He's still human.
-
Of course I would. I did vote for him the first time.
-
Of course I would show the respect and admiration due this man! He has the most difficult and thankless job on the earth and deserves everyones' respect, like him or not!
-
of course I would
-
Yes, a moment of silence would be appropriate to honor a president or the death of any human. A moment....
-
I would because I respect the office and I also think he has been a good president,, better than Obamaramadingdong would ever be. OR Hillary either for that matter.
-
It is interesting that this answer got 8 positive points and 7 negative points. It would have been enlightening to hear why someone felt it deserved negative points.
-
If Bush was killed I'd be cheering for weeks - and when my voice finally went I'd be silent for a moment or two I guess.
-
Yes I would. People Forget. he has the hardest job in the world. He is the Leader of the most active country in the world. And a country that represents the free world. We may not like his ideas. But he is our leader, a Christian, loves his country, has family and friends, loves freedom. He his a human being. So yes I would mourn for any lose of life. Even if I hate the person dearly. Which I do not hate Pres Bush.
-
Yes, George Bush is a great mna, and I think he is doing a fine job as President. I don't care what anyone else thinks, nothing can sway my opinion. For the sake of this question...OF COURSE.
-
Of course not! I live in West Australia, but if I were American I wouldn't either. If we're going to give anyone a moment of silence, it should be for the hundreds of thousands of innocent people killed in the Iraq War, killed by GWB and his actions.
-
YES WE SHOULD ALL RESPECT THE OFFICE AND EVEN THE PERSON
-
Of course. I may not agree with his policies or the way he governed this country. However, he would deserve nothing less. Great question.
-
out of respect for him and his family, yes of course
-
Just because he is the president doesn't mean that I have to respect him, care for him much less like him
-
Not in my country. We don't pay respect to the thousands of other people who die too soon each day. Why should I care about this particularly person?
-
First I'd hold a vigil for the constitution and 4000+ American dead in Iraq and Afghanistan, then I'd finance the biggest block party ever seen in my hometown!
-
Yep i would.
-
I may think he was an Idiot for a President. But as an American Citizen, I'd be more than willing to take a bullet for my President- regardless of who they are.
-
I have no love or respect for the man. And with all the men and women he has gotten killed, I would not hold s moment of silence for him.
-
Yes
-
Probably not. I haven't observed such a moment for all the people who he killed either. +5
-
His current status as president has nothing to do with whether or not he deserves a moment of silence. Respect is earned by actions, not earned by simply having a title.
-
I do not rejoice in any persons passing - yet the creature we know of as George Bush Jr. deserves no honor in life or death. My sympathy would go out to his family and friends of course - and I would honor them by respecting their wishes to the extent that I can - so long as it doesn't conflict with my deeply held beliefs about the "guest of honor".
-
Yes I would! I would do the same for ANY sitting president! That includes Obama!
-
YES! i don't care if you don't like him but its about respect. he did his best. we voted him back in.
-
Unless the person was a total monster, I would likely give respect to any victim of an untimely death. I didn't like Bush's policies but I don't know the man to actually hate him.
-
Yes, I'd take a long deep breath and then begin cheering raucously.
-
This sounds kind of childish to me. Any being deserves a prayer when they die. His policies? I wouldn't call what he committed policies. They were crimes against his policies.
-
Yes, of course I would.
