I'm assuming you have a hold of the string, or are in some way connected with the kite, if the kite and string are completely in the tree, you'll have to get a ladder, or wait for the wind to blow it out. If you have a hold of the string, pull on it a bit, and see if it moves the kite at all. If it does, try pulling harder and releasing to shake the kite loose. (Don't just pull, you'll probably break the string. Instead, just pull a bit and release to wiggle the kite)If not, try untangling the string from the tree as much as possible and then try. Each case is different, if you can, reach it by ladder, if not, try shaking the tree or pulling on the string.
