  • If by "toward each other" you mean directly on the line connecting their centers, then the final velocities will be -4 and +4 m/s to the left and right, respectively. They will simply reverse direction by exchanging momentum. (final velocity) = -(initial velocity) If they collide off-center, on the other hand, then they will still rebound with *speeds* of 4 m/s but in some other pair of opposite directions.
