  • Consider that many people interested in philology are probably more interested in other people than personal fame or recognition. So it is entirely possible there are or have been polyglots out there that speak many more languages than what I have found. They may not even be documented anywhere online... Ziad Youssef Fazah. 56-60 (depends whether you count dialects as languages) This was the most current information I could find (for a person living today) with a quick search: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziad_Fazah For people no longer living, the information is less current/accurate. Many of them conflict so I'll only mention: Giuseppe Caspar Mezzofanti 38-88 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardinal_Mezzofanti
