Of course it is.
-
No not really neither is extreme happiness...
-
No I don't think it is. I know it is.
-
If you are really serious about this question then you have never been depressed.
-
Yes I do..so is being "down in the dumps", "feeling sad" and feeling melancholy. Clinical depression is something that requires medical intervention..it won't go away and one doesn't "snap out of it"..the other feelings are short-term and we all experience them! :)
-
Having suffered through it I know it is very real.
-
Yes it does. I always wonder though why my english teacher called it a "modern diagnosis". Does that mean that only people now feel depressed?
-
I have depression, you wouldnt know it, because I love to laugh and have fun, but mine is more from pain. I know it is real. I can tell when I am starting to get low.
-
Yep ...depression can be real and if not dealt with can be fatal :-)
-
Depression is real. Tom Cruise is the illusion.
-
I can tell you first hand..it is very real.
-
Yes. Youl know when you get it
-
like many others here i know it is

That, my friend, is a depressing question.... yes, I think it is very real and it can be very difficult to deal with. I struggle with it on a regular basis but few would probably recognize it as I do a very fine job of not allowing it out. I think you need to provide a strong example for those around you and not allow yourself to bring them down. They have thier own issues to deal with. The consensus seems that it's caused by a chemical imbalance. I think that chemical imbalance is caused by our body's reaction to our moods and feelings. For those of us who experience depression, it can be very difficult but life is great and we can't let a little thing like depression ruin it. :)
-
Very very real.
-
No, neither is love, reality or the Republican Party
-
of course it's real. People get depressed all the time; when it's a chronic thing, or is really severe, it's called clinical depression and is an indication of a chemical imbalance in the brain. All forms of depression can be treated.
-
Its real alright, you may not be able to 'see' it but believe me its there, i don't bother with tablets anymore, i find they do nothing and make you worse at times.
-
I have a pretty good idea, yes.

I suffered a depression in 1993 one two years later and the third one about a month ago. It is not fun. The first one was extremely embarrassing because I did not know what was going on with me. The second one was very hard but at least I knew I had to slow down and allow others to help me. This one could have been a result of a job accident, I am not sure. But to me it is very painful and very real.
-
I didn't do it.
-
it's only real in ones mind
-
For sure honey.. been there and thankfully came out the other side.
-
Depression in a seritonin problem. A medical problem. You need to have your seritonin level checked. Thats what depression drups are is manufactured seritonin. It's as much of a medical problem as diabetes.
-
Of course it's real.
-
Very
-
of course it real.
-
No I do not, I just think they're a bit more fed up than usual. The thing is, the people who are fed up are surrounded by therapists who, to keep themselves in a job, tell them that they're depressed. Go to Ethiopia, Darfur, or any other country/place like that, and you won't find depression, ADHT, OCD, and all that other made-up crap to keep therapists in a job, because they haven't got time to piss about with made-up diseases and symptoms, because they've got too much to worry about already. The reason such things exist in the West is because we're all molly-coddled here, we're basically pussies.

Everyone goes through depression differently. Mine is from how people have treated me (really poorly and a lable due to my "disability" - We all learn differently and they just labled me as "disabiled") my Grandmother treats me poorly I been emotionally beat up and my parent's have passed away I bottle things up I had so many negative things thrown at me when I was a child and Im okay now I talking to a consallor :)Im a postive person but inside Im really sad and in a lot of pain.
-
Real for some... Manipulative for others.
-
YES..and not a fun thing to go through.
-
Depression is so real, and most everyone has been through some form of it. Some get worst than others
-
Yes, depression is real, and is potentially devastating. For a good overview of the current medical research on depression, I highly recommend Peter Kramer's book "Against Depression". http://www.amazon.com/Against-Depression-Peter-D-Kramer/dp/0143036963/

As a Depressed person i can tell you its real. And often its also permanent. Suicide is the only effective treatment for depression though, most other things dont work or only work for a short period of time.
-
Depression is a real mental illness, however for some people it's a psychological thing they've caused themselves to believe. It's all in the mind.
-
As real as you imagine it is.
-
depression is anger without the loss of patience.;-)
