  • It's a Conservation of Momentum issue I think. Initially the momentum of the two persons immediately prior to pushoff is Zero so the subsequent momentums (ignoring any friction coefficients etc) will sum to Zero. So it's v1m1=v2m2 where v is velocity and m is mass. Plug the masses into the equation & wiggle it about & you have v1/v2=90/60.
