  • Many people are coming out younger these days.
  • yes I knew at 13 that I was bisexual
  • Personally, I knew I had an attraction to the same sex when I was 12. By the time I was 14, I made a comment to my parents where it became obvious that an attraction to the same sex was not acceptable. I tried to be straight throughout high school and college. I dated girls, but it seemed very unnatural to me and I was always looking at other guys and girls were only friends. I finally 'came out' when I was 27 because I did not want to be alone for the rest of my life and acknowledged to myself that I was gay... an attraction that I had denied for so many years. By that time, I had distanced myself from my parents so much that their non acceptance would not have mattered to me. They did accept me, but by that time the damage had been done and I only saw or spoke to them on birthdays and holidays because we had become so distant due to my earlier feelings that I would not be accepted by them.
  • Im not a boy, but i knew i was lesbian when, well as far back as i can remember. I didnt know what gay or straight was then but i knew i was attracted to the same sex.
  • There may be confusion, but generally yes you can know your sexual orientation at 14. I knew I was "different" at 14, but I couldn't really pin a word to it to tell the truth.
  • Some people dont fully realise or accept their feelings until they are 50, while others feel like they are a female trapped in a males body at a very young age, but these are generally the types that get gender changes. If you feel that you have feelings for the same sex, explore them, there is nothing wrong with that. I dont think that people can really know unless they explore the feelings further or do not feel something towards the opposite sex. kinda like you dont know whether you like chocolate unless you have tasted it.
  • I had my first homosexual encounter when I was 8 years old. It was always clear to me after that, that I was gay. I grew up and married and have 7 children. I am still well aware of my sexual orientation it will never change. However I have learned to live as a heterosexual throughout my life I am now 58 years old.
  • All the gay men that I know, knew they were gay when thet were about 3 years old. And if they didn't, well we all kinda did. Their "coming out" - not such a surprise.
  • i think it just depends, i mean you might relize it early on in life or later in life.
  • Puberty can be a few confusing time. A 14 year olds hormones are all over the place. I don't think they could know if they are gay and they shouldn't be having sex at this age if you ask me.
  • Some do, but in most cases at that age its bi-curisoity. Most poeple arent totally sure until they are at least 16 and for some beyond 20.
  • I have always known, without doubt, that I am heterosexual. Why would it be any different for a gay person?
  • my friend is gay and he knew longgg before then!
  • Yes and younger!!
  • In retrospect I should have known at 7 or 8 years old..The signs were all there...even though I had no idea of what sex really was and certainly wasn't aware of any of the emotions. When I look back now it is evident to me that I was...I just couldn't admit it to myself for years.
  • No. Well sometimes I guess. Mark is right, hormones are all over the place at that age. You may actually know eairlyer then that, but at that age its hard to tell
  • my little brother just told me he was gay.. he is 14 years old.. and he said he has known for a long time..
  • yes they are mature enough to know and it is their own decision!
  • I doubt it. A 14 year old boy will have sex with absolutely anything, due to the testosterone raging in his body because of going through puberty. Even though teen lads won't admit to this, a lot of them fancy other boys. I think a lad will truly know when he reaches about 18 years old onward.
  • My friend Josiah, we knew he was gay at 8 or 9, took him until he was 22 to admit it.
  • Yes, gay or straight, when did you have your first sexual desire? Kids today are much more open about sex than other generations so why not know at 14? It's all good as long as they know at any age how to use protection - if you're gay you don't have to worry about pregnancy but std's still need protecting against.
  • I think some 14 yr. old boys might know. But don't worry about putting a label on yourself or anyone else at that age. Just have fun, life is too short to worry about such stuff. 14 is still a kid and you need to go out and be a kid and have fun!
  • i accepted that i was gay at 14, i came out a year and a half ago when i went to the prom with my ex. but i knew i liked boys at the start of puberty, what made it the hardest was being afraid of ppl not liking me for liking guys. i was afraid to tell anybody so i kept it inside for 5 and a half years.
  • i would say that they do
  • Yes, and some know even before that.
  • Yes. way before that age they know!
  • First of all ... "gay" is a lifestyle, and at 14 years old ... I don't think you can qualify yourself as having lived a lifestyle. Lifestyles are what happens over your entire life (ie "lifestyle). How does a person learn ? Has a 14 year old learned everything there is in life ? I don't think so. If your definition of "gay" is being interested in the male sex ... I think you are learning about the male sex. That is not gay. There are a lot of things, also, that can steer a boy into being interested in other boys their own age, or older. Dads should be the ones to teach their sons about this part of life ... but many times, we don't get the advantage of our dads to help us in this area. Also, when boys get to be 14 years old ... they are also experience an increase of hormones in their bodies. Also, when a boy gets to be 14 years old, he also has physically developed in the cumming area. He probably taught himself about masturbation ... which always results in an orgasm. Who doesn't like the feelings associated with an orgasm ? Since boys and girls usually not sexual with each other, at 14 years old ... to sexually experiment with your 14 year old male friends is absolutely normal. Remember - they (14 year olds) are learning about life. Let them learn. Most 14 year old males will spend a lot of their time with their friends - learning about the feelings associated in this newly found feeling (orgasm). As they get older, most grow out of that stage ... move on, get married to girls, and have families (sons and daughters).
  • Of course! I knew I was heterosexual at age 4! It's genetic.
  • I believe that many, but not all, do know at 14 and often much earlier.
  • I knew I was straight at 14.....
  • it's cool in my country , the gay is difficult to find.
  • I have seen kids that were obviously gay at 5 yrs of age and grew up to be gay. I feel a person is born that way unless they don't fit into any group and want to just behave that way to have someone.
