  • Does e-mail count? I e-mailed Loreena Mckennitt to thank her for signing my CD I bought at her concert. I got auto replys from the people who check the e-mails but sadly none from her. I expected it anyways when I sent the e-mail, so no hurt feelings here.

  • When I was a child, I wrote a fan letter to tennis great Bjorn Borg because I loved tennis and thought Borg was the best player ever. Surprisingly, the tennis star wrote back, with a real photo (not those fan club postcard-type "photos") and a short note saying "Thanks to you I play better." I couldn't believe it, being a little kid and all.

I cut out the letters from a magazine and newspaper to spell out "I Love You" three times on a blank black construction paper to John Taylor of Duran Duran and tried to burn out the edges of the paper to make it look like rad album cover. HE NEVER WROTE ME BACK!!!

  • I collected autographs for about 20 years and was SO lucky to get to meet lots of the old-timers before they passed away, so majority of mine were in-person signings.....these were people whose names probably wouldn't mean much to lots of you on here.....Claudette Colbert, Gloria Swanson, Betty Grable, Olivia de Haviland, and on and on!!! BUT I did write to James Cagney years ago.....got the address from a reputable autograph magazine.........I enclosed, as you MUST do, a stamped, self-addressed envelope.......I waited and waited.......then the damn postage went up!! OH NO I thought; no way is a celebrity gonna put the extra stamp on my envelope!!! BUT HE DID HE DID!!! few weeks later there it was, with the extra stamp........so needless to say I kept that envelope.....
