  • Lol! Yeah! I just don't like it.
  • Yeah but it's fun to win!
  • I know. It's been lame as H-E-Double hocky stick ever since Dale Sr. died. Not that I'm a real big fan of it. I much prefer BMX, skateboarding, snowboarding, motorcross, etc. I can't wait 'til Vans Warped Tour is back on. X)
  • No. If you think it is, then you have no respect for history. We all know that it was started by people who drove moonshine...It is like baseball..but a lot more enjoyable....Its a southern past time...now boat racing is a waste of gas, but never nascar
  • Yes, BIG TIME!
  • Hell yea, NASCAR sucks first of all, they go like 500 laps for no reason, and now that gas is so limited, it sucks even more. People are saying dude shut up NASCAR gains us so much money.......Gasoline is not a renewable resource idiots, we can't buy something with NASCAR money when it doesn't exist. Use some common sense and understand that if NASCAR continues to guzzle the rest of our gas, we're gonna be screwed and pressed hard to make cars run on something else.
  • As much as football, baseball and hockey are a waste of food.
  • yes, hundreds of laps, making a left turn for hours and hours, what kind of competetion is that? they must use thousands of gallons of fuel, and for what? nothing amazingly good comes out of it. we use a lot of fuel in NASA to put satellites up, and its beneficial, but using just as much to make a left turn for 5 hours? what a waste
  • Yes..geeeeze how bored must one be to watch cars making left turns for hours. LOL :)(sorry nascar fans)
  • Not in the least. Is it a big waste of gas for someone to drive their car within a 5 mile walking distance?
  • NASCAR is like pretend cowboys wearing hats. Neither know anything about horsepower.
  • I love NASCAR, so no it's not a big waste of gas.
  • Good point! YES!
  • Entertainment in general COULD be considered a waste of gas/power. Do you think the same of movies? TV? Radio? Video Games? Why single out NASCAR? What about IndyCar racing? Formula 1? How 'bout EVERY SPORTING EVENT EVER done? Professional, college, high school, etc. Think of ALL THE GAS that's used by ALL THE PEOPLE that go to them? Board games? Card games? (SOMEONE has to travel to a friends' to play.) How 'bout visiting freinds and family? Do you go the bars (drink, watch bands, play pool, etc.?) or restaurants (eat out?) What about CDs? Records? Maybe Computers? (If THIS is the case, what are you doing here?) Let's put it this way about racing... SPONSORS don't think it's a waste. They get name recognition whenever their cars and drivers win or are shown on TV. And don't EVEN try to say the drivers are NOT intelligent or athletes. Let's see YOU drive a car like that, in a confined space like that, in over 100 degree weather, at 230MPH, and NOT hit the wall in your first lap at that speed. (And that would be ALONE on the track.) Now add 42 MORE cars out there, every ONE of them looking for the same piece of track... Add the wind coming off cars doing 180-230MPH, add the tire conditions, add... It takes a LOT of intelligence, energy, stamina, reactions, strength, and experience. Oh, yeah... The Olympics is coming up... Isn't THAT a major "waste of gas"? GEEZE! (Please note: There is a LOT in this answer DRIPPING in sarcasm. I don't expect that you DO believe that everything listed is a "big waste of gas".) BTW: Get the idea that I DON'T believe it is? And very obiously, neither do the sponsors, and millions of other fans, worldwide.
  • Did you everstop and think of how many people Drive to any sporting event? From soccer moms to Major league sports. There is thousands of times more gas used for that than all motor sports combined. And for you all who don't understand racing, and say they drive in circles( Buy the way, none of the tracks are a circle O ). What about baseball, they run around, not as much, boring, Or football, soccer, basketball, they spend hours running back and forth.
  • Yes,it is a huge waste of gas....Cutthe races in half,250 instead of 500.Its cars going round and round for 6 hours for god sake....Yawwn
  • ya. drag racings where its at.
  • Absolutely, and it's boring to watch cars drive around in circles. So, why not save the gas?
  • yea i do think it's a waste of gas although i've attended a drag racing show every year for the last ten years and i do enjoy it....what i really think is a waste of gas is people with so much money that they have several private planes/yachts that cost hella $$$$$ (like tens of thousands of dollars) to fill up a tank of gas. and they are being used for just one person to go wherever they want whenever they want.
  • now that you mention it, yes. yes i do.
  • Meh, I don't like it, but a lot of other people do. So nah.
  • Just take away all the fun in life--driving anywhere except to the hospital because you're dying or the grocery store because you're starving--is probably a waste of gas. Lighten up--enuf other stuff to worry about.
  • No, it's a business like any other business that uses fuel.
  • Hell no. NASCAR is awesome. R.I.P Dale Earnhardt
  • More or less. I mean, that's why people watch NASCAR right?.....To watch people waste gas. That seems like the only reason anyone would watch it.
  • Yea. Its just a bunch of people driving around a track for two hours!
  • Kinda But because the draft so much it saves gas to
  • No I don't. It is a great form of entertainment for millions of people, employs thousands of people, and pumps millions of dollars into the economy all over the nation. NASCAR is also currently doing research on Ethanol blends that they hope to switch to in the next few years.
  • hell yea
  • No way! That's like saying basketball is a waste of energy running back and forth. lol It's all about the entertainment value.
  • No, it brings a lot of tourism money to this area, stimulating our economy
  • NASCARS do not use gasoline. In fact gasoline will damage the engine. They use different fuel formulas but most are based on alcohol.
