Maybe because many people expect for males to have "been around the block" a bit. Which seems like a ridiculous expectation to me.
-
Maybe because they are the only ones making a big deal about there virginity. Guys dont care
-
Just my own thought but I believe it goes all the way back to when they had sacrifices, history always says it was a youg virgin girl.
-
Because of a woman called Mary, who many people unconsciously consider to be the best woman who ever lived. I find it disgusting - people should aim to have as much sex as they want, and they shouldn't have to answer to a conservative society.
-
Actually, I associate that word with "olive oil"... ;o)
-
Because in the past it was pretty much only Women who would 'be' virgins - the idea of a male virgin was alien to them (remember, guys would be 'given' wives in some way quite often back then). Nowadays that same thought has carried along, despite the reality of the situation changing significantly.
-
maybe cause guys have been put in the position of there being something wrong with them for them to be virgins one second past the first chance they have to get some?
-
Its because virginity has typically been valued in a female, not in males. According to those icky romances aka barbara cartland, virginity is the best gift you can give to your husband to be. However the hero is never a virgin- infact its better for men to lose it as soon as decently possible. Thats how i think many people traditionally looked at it Its all to do with the double standards that governed male female relationships These are very mcuh alive in some countries though

Probably because of anatomy. Its easier to tell if a girl is a virgin than if a guy is. How do you know that all of these people are associating the word virgin with females. When I hear virgin I think of someone who hasnt had sex. End of story. There are no born again virgins and there is no double standard for virginity. You either had sex already in life or not. Even if it was once and that was 7 years ago. To me this sounds like making a big deal out of nothing. Who cares?
-
to be honest I associate Virgin with an Island
-
I think it comes from Biblical usage.
-
sacred and special to both sexes..not just something you throw around
-
I always associated the word with both sexes equally.
-
I actually associate it with the drinks I choose since I am always the designated driver.
-
The remnants of a sexist, male-dominated society?! ;-)
-
2000 years of wonderful stories!
-
Mary?

Virginity refers to a woman has not had intercourse. Chaste refers to a man who has not. Its not sexist. Just different terms for the same thing. Like actress/actor. Gender identity used to mean something when people spoke.
-
I associate it with olive oil
-
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Virgo the virgin is depicted as a female.
