      Yep, if I feel I need to sneeze, I look at the sun, or a bright light, it works for me.

People say "bless you" out of deep-seated superstition, and for good cultural reason. In olden days, if someone sneezed a lot, it was a general sign of poor health, weather from an acute illness or chronic respiratory trouble, which usually led to death.
