The occassional drug transaction and a beatdown of some guy by a gang of thugs with a 15" knife. I saw that bad boy from 30 yards away.

Its a small town, not very many options for shopping, without driving for a good while..
-
It feels far away from everything.

High cost of living. Gas is almost $4 a gallon and the average price for a new home is $968,000.

My town... well i live in an area that breaks all rules about buisness (we have lots of takeaways, banks and hairdressers, 1 overpriced ball gown shop, an underwear "boutique" which i have never seen anyone in, a few offies/newsagents, no bookshops, the video store closed down, we have a tiny pet shop, a GPs that is at risk of closure, and a couple o pharmacies, and a place that is often empty because nothing set up there ever lasts more than six months - All on one road.) Then for the rest of the city, we have high crime rates (kind of gang warfare thing) - there are supposed "bad areas" that you souldn't walk through, especially at night (but i've done it alright). Lots of CCTV in the most unuseful places, more pidgeons than one likes to see on a walk about town. You can't sit, cycle, skate or "loiter" in the square (at the city centre) because you get moved on by 'community support officers' (affectionately known as rent-a-pigs, as they are pointless where they are, and have no real power)... We also have a horrific one way system and no parking (unless you want to spend an extortionate amount on it, or risk a hefty fine.) We were voted the second worst place to live in in the entire country. But, goddamnnit, its home ;)

The conditions of the homes and the people who live in them.

Freezing cold sub-zero winters.

The high rates of crime and no offense the color people being so rude

All the traffic & road congestion, and all the people that live in this state. More a-holes per capita around here LOL! ;)

The climate, and a lot of mean people!
-
high house prices, high water bills, high council tax. low wages

It's tough to narrow it down to just one thing. So, I'm going to go with the traffic and the drivers. People here can be the most angelic and great person ever...but as soon as they are behind the wheel, it's like they turn into a little devil, LOL! In this city, if you don't assert yourself when driving...you will get nowhere, haha.

Taxes and lack of jobs
-
A combination of high living costs and a scarcity of jobs, most of which pay less than the national average for their industry. My friends in other parts of the country are amazed that I pay nearly double the rent they do and earn far less that what most CNC machinists earn despite the fact that my company's wages/benefits are competitive for the area.
-
The high cost of living and the arrogant, self-absorbed people that tend to flock here. Oh yeah, and the whiny rich people. And the fact that whenever I go outside of this city I get stereotyped as a "liberal without a cause." =P
-
Few jobs, theres nothing to do, the people are arseholes, the weather....
