Not very likely ... You will also continue to go forwards in the same direction as the plane you jumped from ... this forward momentum will decrease from air friction, but NO, you will NOT fall straight down.

No, you still have all the momentum of the plane - so if the plane is flying at 300mph, you'll also be traveling that fast when you first jump out.

although you are moving at the same speed as the plane on exit the real effect is wind drift you get pushed in the same direction as the wind (which is generaly alot higher above ground). How much you drift depends on how fast the wind is and in what position your body is in.

Think of a funnel where the pointy bottom bit is your intended landing zone ...The higher you exit from the more room there is to play with.Generally though, if there are winds aloft...they usually make the drop upwind where the skydiver will remain until he/she has opened their 'chute ,then when the jumper gets down to the last third of the ride,they fly downwind then turn back into the wind for a landing.just like flying circuits in a plane!
