  • 2 Timothy 3:16 in the bible is the simplest answer - "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness" Christians believe that the bible is the Word of God given to us. Everything else is just written by men, and has no meaning whatsoever compared to God's word. While man's writings are often useful, interesting and entertaining, only God's word is given any authority in Christians' lives. Since God is (considered to be) perfect, and the bible is his word, it is considered to be infallible. Anything man writes is contaminated with his own imperfection.
  • Several reasons: Archaelogy Prophecy It's claims of itself It's creation and cohesivness It's scientific knowledge Archaeology - We possess over 25000 manuscripts and partial manuscripts from the ancient writings of the Bible. We also have the Deadsea Scrolls which were Bible scrolls buried in the Israeli desert in 200BC and are 99% a match to our current Bible. The differences of the 1% were gramatical or typo differences. We also have proof of hundreds of civilizations, cities, people, etc. mentioned in the Bible that archeaology has uncovered proof for. Many archaeologists use the Bible as a treasure map. Schollars used to scoff that many of the peoples mentioned in the Bible were made up. But in the last century, we have found many of the ones thought to have been made up. For example the Hittites. And King David was thought to be a myth until Assyrian tablets wer found that detailed a gift given to King David. Archaeology has never contradicted the Bible. Prophecy - There are thousands of prophecies that were written in the Bible, and then the fulfillment is recorded. This is also affirmed by archaeology. No other holy book - NOT ONE contains fulfilled prophesy. The Bible was written over 1500 years by 40 authors over three continents and it is a totally cohesive document with repeating intertwined messages and themes with no contradictions and no errors! How is that even possible except by God? Scientific knowledge in the Bible: The world is a sphere - Isaiah 40:22 That Earth hangs on nothing in orbit - Job 26:7 Currents and topography in the oceans - Psalm 8:8, Job 38:16,Isaiah 43:16,Jonah 2:5-6 the hydrodynamics of the atmosphere - Job 36:27-29,Ecclesiastes 1:7, Job 26:8 Time has a beginning - 1 Timothy 1:8-9 Most importantly God speaks through His word to those who love Him. The Bible comes alive. God answers questions, teaches lessons and uses His Bible to allow us to have a relationship with Him.
  • A point of clarification: Typical Christian churches believe the Bible is inspired by God and without error. There are many other books, both modern and ancient, which contain truth, some may even contain no errors, but they are not accepted as the inspired words of God - which is different than "true." There are many thousands of papers and books documenting the remarkable and unique history of the Bible that sets it apart from all other documents in history and supporting the Christian position that the Bible is indeed special.
  • "Why do Christians accept the Bible as true, but not any other book? What's the difference?" ... This is a GREAT question! WHY? Because there is PLENTY of evidence that verifies the validity of the Holy Bible ... but as for other books claiming to be "true" and "inspired by God" ... the same CANNOT be said. Attached is a FASCINATING documentary that attempts to answer this very question! Thank you. ...
  • I cannot remember the actual passage, but in the bible it is said by one of the disciples" What we have said is the Gospel, that nothing be added nor removed unless they who do so be punished" or something along those lines. In other words, the bible is enough. Anything more is superfluous
  • "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness,  that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work". 2 Timothy 3:16, 17. It is always wise to follow God’s Word because in the long run, following what the Bible says always works out best for everyone. (Proverbs 2:1-11) The fact is, humans are very limited as far as wisdom is concerned. They can rarely foresee the final consequences of their actions. The prophet Jeremiah confessed: “I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”—Jeremiah 10:23. We have only to look around us to see that this assessment is correct. Most of the problems afflicting the world are direct results of people’s not following the counsel of God’s Word. The long, troubled history of mankind has shown that humans cannot successfully decide for themselves in moral matters. God is infinitely wiser than we are. Why not accept what he says, instead of relying on our own wisdom?—Proverbs 28:26; Jeremiah 17:9. Yes, read God's Word the Bible every day.
  • The meanings of the Bible has Jehovah's protection... (Revelation 22:18, 19)
