  • If you eat every 3 to 4 days yes that would be normal. Let us examine the velocity of food as it travels through different parts of your body and what happens to it. Food travels down the oesophagus at a rate of approximately 3 to 4 centimeters per second (1 to 2 inches), and the entire process takes about 5 to 6 seconds. In the stomach, food tends to hang around for a little longer and this depends on a variety of factors including the amount of food you have consumed, how much fat it contains, and also the acidity of the stomach. However, all food should have left the stomach within 2 to 4 hours. In the small intestine, digestion continues and absorption occurs. From here on, the time to defecation will vary depending on the time it takes to adequately digest and absorb in the small intestine. This will usually take 5 to 6 hours. The "food then enters the colon for further digestion and water reabsorption before defecation. The time from it’s entering the colon to defecation is about 12 to 24 hours. Thus, the time for food to travel from one end to the other probably ranges from about 20 to 30 hours. Mind what you are eating now is entering at the mouth, it may take up to 30 hours for your meal to get to the other end so what ever you ate 30 hours ago. "Normal" bowel movement times range from 2 a day to one every two days. Anything beyond that should be considered slightly off and either adjustments to diet need to be made (more veg, more fiber) or a visit to doctor to discuss options and causes. http://ibdcrohns.about.com/od/dailylife/a/normalbm.htm goes in greater depth between what should be considered constipation and diarrhea. Also consistency (hardness/softness) of your BM should be considered a factor and what and how much you eat.
  • I don't think that your system is at optimal function. I don't poop every day sometimes and then I poop several times a day, it varies. Are you eating enough fiber rich foods? Maybe a visit to a doctor would be in order. How do you feel?
  • lol, no. I think you ought to eat Rasin Bran or something...more fiber. Fruit and Veggies help. Good luck.
  • I can't say that it's 'normal' but I usually have BMs every other day or so. I rarely go everyday...if it's causing you concern maybe you should see a doctor.
  • You poop as much as you scoop.
