  • I buy a few refurbished things, but I've found that most places don't fix the problems that were initially there. I bought an MP3 player (not an iPod) that I couldn't send in for repair or return the item because it wasn't covered by the (exremely limited) refurbished warranty and I hadn't purchased it with a credit card. :( I'd trust Apple to actually fix their items, though.
  • The only companies that I will buy refurbished products from are Apple and APC (They make Surge Protectors and Battery Backups), because they have the same warranties as original products, and both companies do an excellent job of repair and service. Other than that, I think it actually costs you more money to buy refurbished. Just buy new if you can. It sucks, but it's the nature of the beast.
