  • I put a product called Tattoo Goo on mine. Its good stuff. I dont think vaseline is the best idea, but I'm really not sure.
  • They tell you to put it on because it keeps the skin moist and prevents drying which will make the tat bleed out the ink sooner. You can put anything that is noist on it. I used to put a gel on it that my mom used for when she was going thru radiation therapy for cancer. I can't remember the name but it starts with AQUA-something. When they tat you up, it is actually digging into the skin and if you don't keep it moist, it will peel because it is damaging to the outer layer of your skin. Tattoo Goo is good too. You'll regret it if you don't because it will scab up and start peeling BAD.
  • I was told to buy Bepanthen for mine... it treats nappy rash really, but it's great at preventing dryness, and so preserves the clarity of your tat for longer... good stuff x
  • Aquaphor
  • I have never heard it said that vaseline pulls the ink out, Neosporin does. They use vaseline to keep the needle from slipping while doing the tattoo.
  • Around here they use only A&D ointment and they do not use Vaseline and tell their customers never to use it. We are to use the A&D until the gooey goes away then switch to a mild body/hand cream until completely healed up and then for maintenance.
  • omg don't listen 2 the last guy AT ALL i work in a shop and its not VASELINE (which is petroleum jelly), it is A&D ointment (vitamins a&d) that they put on u. they look similar but very different reactions if u put it on your tat. u should only put a&d or lubriderm (which is fragrance and dye free) and when u do put it on, don't saturate the tattoo with it. just a small amount will do, like the tip of your finger depending on how big the tattoo.
