Tobi is Obito. It's been hinted all along. Plus their names sound similar. He calls himself Uchiwa Madara, or one with powers equivalent to Uchiwa Madara's, but there are several clues saying he's in fact Obito... 1. His speech and personality is completely different to Madara (which partly rules off the chance of him being Madara). He seems to have goofy kind of personality - much like Uchiwa Obito. 2. Think about it, he only has sharingan in his right eye and Obito gave Kakashi the Sharingan in his left eye when he "died." 3. Zetsu calls Tobi a "good boy", implying that he is relatively young (probably around his 20's).

actually, he is uchiha madera. my sister has read ahead on the japanese manga (i dont like reading ahead of the shows, but one day she updated me with this interesting piece of news) and he was in fact finally revealed as madera. its only rumors that hes obito, but those rumors cant argue with the facts. if you still doubt it, you have 3 choices: 1) find the translated japanese manga online and see for yourself 2) wait for the show to come out in like a million years, or 3) simply refuse to believe this and be proven wrong later on ^^ anyways, i have to admit that in the past, this was a very good argument.

Guys, Obito was identified as dead by Kakashi-sensei's teammate. Then he was crushed under rocks for over an hour. He's dead guys. Give it up, and like they said he admitted to be Uchiha Madara

At this point we only know that Madara Uchiha is weareing a mask similar to the one wore by Obito.We also know that he is interest to see the outcome of the battle between Itachi and Sasuke. Obito was kill in manga and buried in Konoha so he can't be Madara Uchiha. We also know that Madara fought the first Hokage and that he meet kyubi long before that. But the fact that Tobi is so childish and young makes things uncetain.

Obito is dead, alright, but his eye was recovered by tobi. Tobi didn't claim to be madara, he just said that he had the power of madara, and he does. Tobi is nagato, jaraiya's special rain student. Nagato uses his rinnegan bodies to kill most would be assassins, and jaraiya might be the next body to hit the floor. Nagato acts stupid as a cover, so that no one suspects tobi to be pulling the strings with the 6 peins. Nagato somehow salvaged obito's other eye (he has the right one, as kakashi has the left one) and nagato/tobi is invincible, as a transplanted sharingan eye gives either invincibility, immortality, or if you got two, like madara uchiha, you are both invincible and immortal. My proof is itachi's statement that madara uchiha is the invincible immortal one. Madara has both of his bro's eyes, nagato/tobi is invincible with the right obito eye, and kakashi is immortal with the left obito eye, though immortality means you can't die, as he has been hurt and even bedridden by extended sharingan or mangekyo sharingan use. Nagato will likely only be defeated by having his sharingan eye destroyed or removed, though kakashi might be able to send either nagato/tobi into another dimension, though he could just send the eye into another dimension. Madara, though, won't be so easy!

He is Madara. He was never Obito that other answer is retarded. They already revealed he is Madara and have never suggested anything about Obito, so that guy doesn't have any more info then anyone else reading the manga.

Tobi is not Obito. Obito is dead. Look it up on wikipedia.

Tobi is Madara. He's said so himself. Most people think he's Obito because you only see his right eye. However, they seem to be forgetting that Obito's right side was crushed under a large pile of boulders and he died. If by some miracle he was still alive somehow, it is very, very, very unlikely he'd still have the use of his right eye.

Dude why wont anyone accept tobi is fucking madera. doesnt anyone read the manga? first off tobi was killed by a rockfall which crushed his right eye which tobi sees out of through his mask. secondly kakashi has his sharingan. thirdly he was BURIED. madera has admitted to being tobi (also wore a similar mask) there is no motive why obito would join the akasuki. OBITOS DEAD GET OVER IT!

for me, Tobi is Uchiha Madara. why? because if Obito who just a former member with kakashi team, would'nt be able to instruct peoples like Pain, Kisame, Konan or Itachi because they are so strong. only one person which is so powerful with Mangekyou Sharingan who can only instruct them.. it's Uchiha Madara...........that's why he can easily become the Akatsuki Leader with no objection!

well i don't buy that Tobi is uchiha madara i think hes uchiha obito. heres my argument: 1. their hair may be black but it isn't long. Tobi's hair matches obito's. 2. uchiha madara doesn't look like he likes to kid-around. 3. he says he has the POWER of madara. why would Tobi want to talk to him self in 3rd person. 4. madara doesn't wear orange Tobi does and obito did (note: i say did because obito's supposed to be dead). 5. now it gets interesting, most people don't catch this. but Tobi and obito have somewhat the same name, i say this because japan's former capital was Kyoto and the new capital is Tokyo. (note: if you don't understand try this... spell Tokyo from the k.) and you spell Kyoto. it's kinda tricky with Tobi and obito cause they took out the and O in obito's name. spell obito from the T and it spells T O O B I subtract an O and you get T O B I. 6. this is where i started thinking Tobi was obito-- he says Tobi is a good boy alot cause obito wasn't one of the bad guys. that's all for now but there's a lot more evidence pointing to obito. and obito didn't really die because zetzu came and was gonna eat obito cause thats what zetzu does... but obito wasn't dead yet so zetzu took him back to the akatsuki hide out. the rocks crushing him explains the BOLTS ON HIS BODY! and why the hell would madara want to wear a mask?

it is to soon to say. but personally can we trust what madara's been saying? after all he lied to sasuke when he said that nine tails attacking konoha was an natural disaster. minato(fourth hokage) said he saw a man in concentric mask tht night b4 sealing nine tails. if anything it might be izuna(madara's little brother) or shisui(his nickname was "body flicker") tobi teloports does he not?.

I think tobi is obito for all we no madara could of been it father or gram. now im not going to go deep inot this cuz some of you guys already posted some of the things i was thinking about like zetzu comeing and saving him and about the goggles and mask being orenge one this is if obito was related to madara u would think he would has some stronger powers then a normal uchiha that may ex why he got his sharingan so late. one thing i was thinking ppl always say theres no reason obito should hate konaha but if u think about it there are it may of been zetzu told him about madara and is life story about all the things and hated konaha for it even more if madara was a family member and or when zeztu found him and toke care of him for a long time came back to konaha and found out what happend to the clan and looked for itachi for the hole story and found out what denzo and the leaders did but you never no i may be wrong about all of this but we will find out soon
