I have a 2002 Chevy Tahoe that blows out warm air. i've taken it to the shop (last summer) and they say that it only needed recharged. Now this summer it's the same thing. is this something i have to do every year?

Nope. A/C should last at least a decade without any problems. So, logically, you have a problem. I suspect you have a leak since it's lost its charge twice so far. Get the shop to put in a leak-detecting dye when they recharge your system. Go back when the system blows hot air again and they should find the leak no problem. A/C is great except when you need to fix it...
