I don't buy "suicide". He was on the run for over a month, and yet his parents took law enforcement officers right to the area he was found - his dad went so far as to go off the marked trail right to where a piece of his belongings was found. Being on the run for a month, he would have been long gone from that area. It's too much of a coincidence that he was found right where his dad had left him.

Good possibility. From what I understand, there was no weapon found at the scene (which is probably why it took a month to find the cause of death - a weapon at the scene would have been an obvious conclusion). Thus, if no weapon was found at the scene, how could it be a suicide? His dad knew just where to look for him - not possible if he's been wandering around for a month.
