Why do you think the US restaurant industry (Not fast food) is having such a staffing crisis right now?

The restaurant industry in the USA has always been so bad that people worked for them just to keep bills paid and more like that; not a career choice. Any more, people are finding any other source for money and restaurants are not offering a better scenario for people to work in. If you do not pay your cooks a living wage, your restaurant can only expect to be shut down within 3 years.
