I'm not, but some English friends of mine adopted two little girls from Sri Lanka when they were babies. Their birthdays are a month apart but, because they are more or less the same age, everybody assumes they are twins until they know the dates of their birthdays. Obviously the girls have known from a very young age that they were adopted because of the fact they have a different complexion to their mum and dad and, unfortunately, they have received comments about this from the occasional bigot that they have come across.

My mother got pregnant when she was really young, and the man she got pregnant by, his father was an OB-GYN. My friend from college was adopted. I used to tag along with her and her parents for Spring vacations to their timeshare condo. The mother responded, "that's impossible. she's adopted."

My duaghter is adopted. However, I am convinced she is the child my wife and I would have had if we had been able to conceive. (A service doctor made sure she couldn't have babies by not diagnosing a burst appendix when she was nine.) My daughter remains, quite simply, the light of my life.

both my brother and I are adopted. We were both adopted at a very young age, I was 4 weeks old and he was 5 weeks old. Personally, I wouldn't have it any other way. I am exactly like my parents, we get along awsome and had they not told me, I don't think I ever would have known any different. Blood isn't everything, it's all about love. I also know a lot of people that are adopted.

A friend of mine was adopted as a 2 week old baby. As an adult she was contacted by her birth mother and a meeting was arranged between them and her two sisters ~ who had also been given up for adoption as infants. All three girls still had the same name given them at birth by their mother ~ who told them she had been unable to accept the loss of her firstborn, so had given each of them the same first name.
