Probability is statistics, luck is superstition.

A coin toss always gives you a 1 in 2 probability. "Luck", or chance (which to this date I haven't decided if it actually exists) seems to have a lot more variables.

You can't really compare the two directly because they are different concepts. Probability is a mathematical calculation of the likelihood of a given an outcome. Luck refers to the outcome itself either being good or bad in your favor.

So far, this is the simplest answer; in my experience, simple is the most convenient route to take--mind you, not always correct. Although, leaving it as you stated will satisfy mostly everyone on this sort of trivial pursuit of knowledge. Then again, that begs the question: is it trivial? or are we too caught up with finding quick fixes for our curiosities?
