I love Okra. Mmmmmmmmmmmm! I cut the okra into 2 centimeter wide slices, cut the tops and bottom portion off and away. I use two bowls, one with battered egg and another with seasoned flour. Then I douse in egg and rub in the flour mix for each okra. Finally I add them to my deep fryer at home and cook till done. Ready for seconds?

Fried
-
I like them boiled, on the top of some fresh green beans or field peas. Or fried, but not breaded. Cut into 1/4 " slices, brown in bacon grease until nearly crispy. Some will be crispy & some will not. It will appear nearly burnt. Just try it sometime & you will find that it it the BEST way to eat okra!! Breaded fried is my least favorite.

I toss slices into a plastic bag with some beaten egg, then add cornmeal, flour, bread crumbs, and shake it until well-coated. Then I fry it on the stovetop in a non-stick pan with no-stick spray. Tastes good, without all the oil. My other preferred way to eat okra is in Gumbo! Yum!

Well some nice music a little wine, stroke her hair... you know the deal.. I wouldnt rush in and ask for it straighht away... She's not a piece of meat!
-
In a good, Cajun Gumbo. Yum!
-
I cook them in a pan with olive oil and plum tomatoes.
-
Fry 4-5 slices of bacon... Add the Okra until almost done... Add one can of Diced tomatoes... Salt and pepper

When you have run out of absolutely every other food on the planet.
-
Don't have it at all. Ick. Slimy.
-
Not at all. I will let others have my share.
-
Pickled or fried..but not that battered kind that they have in stores and restaurants. It needs to be thinly sliced and rolled in cornmeal mixed with just a little flour. The only way I like it boiled is in homemade soup or gumbo..and it has to be "deslimed".
-
I'll go with the fried.
-
Boiled. I love it when it's all gooey and melts in your mouth. It's a very sexy vegetable.
-
Sorry, not at all.
-
In Gumbo...of course!
-
I like it fried myself, although I've only gotten to have it about 3 or 4 times
-
deep fried. i dip it in buttermilk, then in my breadcrumb/flour/spice mixture and down into the fry daddy she goes!
-
in a Gumbo
-
Throw it in the bin. It is the only vegetable I cannot stand.
-
Gumbo or breaded and fried. Best of all is both. Bread them and fry, then add them to the gumbo.
-
Make two diagonal slits on it and stuff it with some spices mixed in dessicated coconut and dip them in a batter of flour and deep fry.
-
I like it breaded and fried.
-
Stuffed and deep fried!
-
I buy jars of hot pickled okra that are wonderful, it's also good boiled with tomatoes, onion and spices, deep fried, or in Gumbo.
-
Boiled lightly cut into small pieces and then served with a little salt or soy sauce.
-
Cut into roundels and deep fried.
-
Fried for me, and I think when so many answer your question you should not ignore them. I just gave points to 2 pages of zeros.
-
I love love love fried okra..but I simply don't have the talent to make it right. I've tried a few times..followed recipes to the letter..the coating doesn't stick during frying and it always ends up overcooked and slimy inside. Wish I had the "touch". I also liked pickled okra..nice and crisp and crunchy! Happy Friday! :)

With Stewed Tomatoes! Here is a recipe: Stewed Tomatoes With Okra Ingredients: • 1 pound fresh okra, washed, trimmed, sliced • 1 can (14.5 ounces) stewed tomatoes • 1 green bell pepper, chopped • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion • salt, to taste Preparation: Place sliced okra in pan; cover with water. Bring to a boil and continue to cook for 5 minutes. Drain water; add remaining ingredients. Simmer mixture for 15 to 20 minutes longer, until okra is tender. Add salt, if desired, to taste. Serves 4.
-
Any way you feel like at the time...(lol) I love it chopped and deep fried, boiled whole, in gumbo, and pickled....
-
pickled.
-
not at all, dont like vegtables in curries
-
I have tried it all of the above, and the only way I like it is fried. Store bought breaded and fried is pretty good, but the best is sliced rolled in cornmeal then fried in a skillet. As for recipes, most fried foods you have to dip in a wash like egg or milk before you put it in breading. But Okra comes with its own slime built right in.
-
Pickled is ok, although I prefer it fried. But, I don't eat much fried foods these days!
-
I like it in a bhaji - okra bhaji =)
