reformer: someone who tries to bring the improvement or amendment of what is wrong, corrupt, or unsatisfactory. The founding fathers wanted the US to be a nation independent of Monarchy and foreign rule. So yes, they were. But if this is an essay, please don't go by my judgment. Ask a few other people first, cause I'd feel bad if I was wrong.
