In terms of imprinting can baby birds perceive even non-biological things (e.g. a moving car) as their mother?

A bird doesn't understand that their is such a thing as non-biological. So as long as it moves the bird will consider it to be its mother. Most probably something smaller than a car.

A baby bird will imprint on the first moving thing it sees, which in the wild is almost always the mother. Scientists have done experiments on this, one time they got a baby duck to imprint on a block pulled by a string! That's just mean if you ask me.
