  • Is the timing chain installed correctly? How old is you vehicle?
  • Either the timing cahin is not installed correctly or the valves have been damaged in the engine, Not all engines are free spin, meaning if the timing belt or chain breaks the pistons will hit the valves damaging them.
  • Timing chains have marks on them that align with marks on the cam gear and crankshaft gear. If these are not aligned properly the engine is out of time and will not develop compression or run. As one person said many engines are not free spin and the clearance between the valve head and the top of the piston is negative meaning the piston will hit the valve head bending the valve and can make a hole in the top of the piston. You could be in for a high repair bill.
