• Medically speaking, it has to do with an adrenaline imprint on the brain. When something traumatic happens there is a flood of adrenaline into the bloodstream. That adrenaline effects parts of the limbic system (the part of the brain that regulates emotions and memory) and causes an imprint. PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) is directly linked to this occurrence.
