G'day Aardvark, Thank you for your question. I would say Beijing for the simple reason that the population of China is the largest in the world. New Delhi in India would also be a contender. New York, London, Paris and Tokyo are all well known cities as is Rome. Regards

Paris, France. I think images of the city are the most recognisable in the world and tend to be used quite readily in popular culture - cartoons, movies, photographs etc. New York would be a close second.

I like Athens Greece for this honor with Rome as a close second. It is one of the oldest cities in the world and known for many accomplishments in all areas of human endeavors. Athens http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athens or Rome http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rome are on my must see list.

Beyond a doubt, New York City is the most famous city in the world. There are only a few metropolitan areas larger, but none are as famous. New York is the financial center of the world (although others like London) are catching up in that regard. In fashion, it is big. In theatre, it is still the biggest. Its art scene is still the biggest. Tourism is up again. It has one of the best restaurant scenes in the world. It is the place where people from all over the world want to visit.

It is funny when people compare New York City with Paris, Beijing, London, etc. There are many great cities, but those cities that I just mentioned are capitals cities of their country. New York City is not a capital but it’s a powerful city. How can you compare NYC with those other cities?, Beijing? Became famous in the last 10 years if that? London old an famous city, but London you will never great like New York. Paris, lets not even go there =) NYC is the greatest city out there..
