I think that in the New Testament Jesus said not to worry about all the rules made in the Old Testament.

Tattoo's are only forbidden (kindof) in Leviticus, so unless you are going to follow the hundreds of other laws in Leviticus (including dietary, etc) Tattoo's are not forbidden to Christians...and the same holds true for cutting hair..only in Leviticus and only if you are also going to observe all the 600+ laws of Leviticus (actually it only prohibits *rounding* the corners of the hair and beard (so not necessarily meant for women to begin with).. some interesting info on this re: tattoos is http://www.opc.org/qa.html?question_id=170

Tattoos were forbidden in the Law given to Moses. As Christians we no longer live under those commandments, but they still give an indication of God's feelings on the matter. (Besides, they're ugly.) I've never read anywhere in the Bible that a woman couldn't get her hair cut. Paul wrote that the custom was for men to wear their hair short and women long,...but everyone needs at least a trim, now and again.

It's sort of a fundamentally vague question when you say "against". And when you say "still", are you suggesting that the bible keeps changing? There isn't really anything "against" the bible (ex. how can anything be "against a Psalm"?), since for every suggestion, there's a contradictory suggestion. It's not a rule book; trying to use it as such would cause intense frustration leading to desparate cherry-picking. The Old Testament was written by and for the Jewish Religion. If you want to pick some commandments out of it while ignoring others, that's your business. Jews do "believe" in Jesus, as do Muslims. All three are are Abrahamic religions. Jesus never said "go start a new religion for gentiles and name it after me". Jesus never heard of the Christian religion. He was Jewish and he preached Judaism to Jews. Jews believe exactly what Jesus said, that he was a prophet teaching the way of God. It was Saul of Tarsus, whom Jesus never met, that started the religion a century later. There, in fact, are commandments in the old testament stated as coming from God that you can not cut your hair or get a tattoo (though some I've seen are beautiful). This is why Jews cherry-pick from the Jewish Bible (the old testament) and why many modern Christians bother only with the Christian Bible (the New Testament). If you are Christian, you need the Old Testament as much as you need the Book of Mormon or the Koran (since all three are Abrahamic and therefore related, but pertain to entirely separate religions in practice).

just to what daisymae19 said... You can't say "tattoo's are only forbidden [kind of]". God wasn't playing around when he was giving us all these laws to obey. He didn't say, "Right, even though i said to my children not marks on themselves, today is their lucky day. Whoever wants to get a tattoo can". God would be contradicting himself. Its there, in black and white, every time we open our bibles, "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD". Lev 19:28. Doesn't matter New or Old Testament. If it mattered, the bible wouldn't have the Old Testament as part of it. These are God's words, we cannot pick and choose what we like, and what we don't like. It also states in Lev 19:27: Do not cut the hair at the sides off your head or clip off the edges of your beard. Oh, last time i checked, i was born a sinner, and would have never in a million years been able to fulfill all of God's laws. That is why God sent Jesus to die for us. So now, if we can't fulfill all of God's laws we wont die because of God's grace, we have been saved. We all know this one: For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16. Cor 11:3-7 says: But i want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 12-24-2016 The bible is not all addressed to one group of people. It's like a letter addressed to your uncle: you can read it and learn from it, but when it commands to do something, you are not bound by that command because it was not addressed to you. Most of the old testament was addressed to the tribes of Judah, Benjamin, and Levi, the people we now call Jews. The other ten tribes and the gentiles were not obliged to live according to Jewish law. There were other sections of the old testament that did apply to all people equally. The part you mention is in a book titled Leviticus, which means "To The Levites." It is specifically addressed to the tribe of Levi.

If you are a true Christian having Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour you are not under the Old Testament Law of God. As a true Christian one is under the Law of Love given Christians who believe in Him as their Lord and Saviour. However the two laws you mentioned were ceremonial laws for the Jews only and never for the gentile. If you do not believe in Jesus Christ then you are still subject to all the Law of God in the Old Testament, a law that no mortal man can obtain perfection enough to be saved.
