Pandora and Trollbeads are two immensely popular brands of customizable beaded chains and bracelets. Both companies make beads from silver, 14-karat gold and Murano glass, sometimes ornamented with gemstones or pearls.
Pandora
Danish stores were the first to offer the Pandora charm bracelet in Denmark in 1999. Pandora has since become popular around the world, and, in 2010, the brand was sold in almost 30 countries, the company's website says.
Trollbeads
Trollbeads is the older of the two companies, begun in Denmark in 1976. The company introduced its first glass beads in 2002, and distributes its products in more than 20 countries.
Pandora Beads
Each Pandora bead is threaded inside, made to twist over the specially threaded ends of the Pandora chains. The Pandora bead collection includes everyday objects representing such things as hobbies, animals and holidays.
Trollbeads Beads
Trollbeads brand beads are not threaded and are meant to simply slip over a chain or bracelet. Mythology, fairy tales, plants and animals are frequent themes in this company's bead collection.
Compatibility
You can slide Pandora charms onto a Trollbeads bracelet, however Trollbeads products will not fit on a Pandora brand charm bracelet, according to Eagle Bay Designs, a Florida glass bead-making company.
